Biomathematician disentangling Marine Microbial Interaction Networks.

Early Stage Researcher within the H2020 ITN SINGEK at the Marine Science Institute (ICM-CSIC) in Barcelona, Spain.

PhD in Applied Mathematics at the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya, Spain.

I am interested in using mathematical approaches to answer biological questions. My interdisciplinary research combines molecular ecology and computational biology with biomathematics.

Currently, I am part of the EU H2020 Marie Skłodowska-Curie Innovative Training Network SINGEK. Within my project «next steps towards system biology: disentangling complex ecological networks in marine microbes», I investigate natural marine microbial populations. The aim is to determine significant ecological interactions, such as symbiosis, parasitism and predation between members of the microbial community (microeukaryotes, bacteria and viruses) by combining single-cell genomics and metagenomics. The goal is to assemble an ecological network-draft and to analyze its properties.
